Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)
Skin Treatments
Platelet rich plasma (PRP), also known in the media as the Vampire Facelift, is a treatment where the patient’s own platelets are drawn to achieve a high concentration of growth factor rich plasma. Amongst the key elements found in the concentrated plasma are those growth factors needed for collagen repair and growth stimulation as well as fibroblast and elastin stimulation. The concentrate is then injected back into the patient’s skin, in order to stimulate collagen growth and remodelling. The result is improved skin texture and reduction of fine lines and wrinkles.
Because the patient makes use of their own platelets, there is no risk of allergy or reaction. PRP can be used alone, or can be combined with several other treatments such as dermal fillers and neuromodulators (such as Botox® and Juvederm®), fractionated laser (Fraxel®), micro-needling, and chemical peels, all of which are available at Dr. Yoskovitch’s Clinic.
How long does the treatment take?
The treatments take between 30-45 minutes, and patients typically require 2-3 treatments initially, followed by maintenance treatments every six months or so.
What kind of results can I expect?
- The result is a more youthful and healthy appearance;
- Improvement of fine lines and wrinkles;
- Greater skin buoyancy and glow.
Hair-loss Treatment
Hair loss is a significant concern for both men and women alike. Males may exhibit hair loss, beginning in their early twenties and will into their fifties. Female pattern loss is often associated with physiologic stressors such as child birth and menopausal changes. There now exists a viable treatment to significantly improve hair, namely in the form of Plasma Rich Platelet (PRP) injection.
In PRP, the patient’s own platelets are drawn to achieve a high concentration of growth factor rich plasma. Amongst the key elements found in the concentrated plasma are those growth factors needed for collagen repair and growth stimulation as well as fibroblast and elastin stimulation, which are essential for hair growth. The concentrate is then injected back into the patient’s scalp, in order to not only stimulate new hair growth, but to prevent damage to current hair follicles.
Hair Benefits of PRP:
- Improved and new hair growth in the scalp;
- Stronger and thicker hair;
- Prevention of future hair loss.
Results are variable amongst patients and depend on multiple variables that are discussed at the time of consultation.
